I wanted to try a few techniques within the assignment. So here are a few tests and practice shots.

I ended up settling on “vectoring” ten frames with hot pink triangles on a black background which really popped. Then for the next ten frames I used a flat image of space to fill the figure and apartment building in the background and erased everything else, which created a surreal effect that surprised me. By the last ten frames I was running low on ideas but wanted to keep the same color palette, so I decided to keep it minimal and just use thin hot pink lines on a bright aqua background, with some pink noise inside the leather jackets.

“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 8:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”

“There are two kinds of visual memory: one when you skillfully recreate an image in the laboratory of your mind, with your eyes open; and the other when you instantly evoke, with shut eyes, on the dark inner-side of your eyelids, the objective, absolutely optical replica of a beloved face, a little ghost in natural colors (& this is how I see Lolita).”
